Yes, this is a very unfortunate bug, which has been confirmed in Firefox 2. I've read that this would be fixed in Firefox 3, so Achan's observation comes as a bit of a surprise. We're trying to fix this issue at our end. In the mean-time, sorry for the inconvenience. We know that many visitors and members prefer Firefox (me too), but the only advice we can give is to use IE for the moment

Even better
Although I doubt this fixes the problem for everybody.

There is an issue in Firefox 2.* which prevents the applet from connecting to the server in certain cases. This happens when Javascript is executed on the page before the applet tries to connect to the server (when you check your puzzle). The solution does get checked (we implemented a workaround which sends the solution as a param to the applet), but the user stats cannot be updated, because the applet cannot connect to the server. We are working on resolving this problem.
I understand that in Firefox 3, this bug will probably be fixed. In the meantime, please use IE for checking your puzzles until we can fix the problem on our side.
