That could be a bug, but I can't reproduce it. I clicked "Reveal", then added a ton of X's (both in squares in your path, squares out of the path, and on paths you don't take), and it's returning fine for me.
This genre is indeed the same as the "math mazes" that chaydov suggested in this topic. Another name for it is "meander". But we renamed it, since we thought a theme would be nice.
