Was Puzzle Picnic down for a few days recently? Or was it just a connection problem at my end?

The problem was at our end. The site was down due to miscommunication with our hosting provider. As far as I can tell, the outage did last at least a day, so that was very unfortunate.
How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
