You can fill in both stars in the 4th column. That'll give a start that doesn't require trial and error.

Having said that, I'm probably one of the people responsible for the quick boost to *** this puzzle got. I had to restart a few times before I noticed what faulty leap of logic I kept making again and again somewhere down the line.

Yeah, because the three leftmost columns are all shared by three regions, so their stars are certainly in there. Then, their extensions to other columns must be empty . I'm glad it stood out, that's what I wanted actually.

Hello. I am new to puzzle games, just discovered them. I played a couples of genres and I managed to solve different puzzles but I'm having problems with "Star Battle".

What is a general strategy to approach this game? I can eliminate some squares where I know there is no star but from there I start a guessing game: if this square has a star, then this happens, then that and I come across multiple choices and I continue my guessing.

Is there a better approach? Any help would be appreciated as I really want to understand the logic behind Star Battle. Thank you
