Number: Puzzle #120
Genre: Master Mind
Author: Maarten
Appeared at: January 24, 2007

For this puzzle, are all of the applicable clues given on the right? I was under the impression that all clues that apply to each row are given, not just some, and I just wanted to clear that up.
My main reason for thinking this is the middle two rows; one of the numbers disappears between the two rows, one number appears and the other three change positions, so even if the number that appears in the third row down accounts for one of the black dots, there has to be at least one white dot in the second row.
If someone could clear this up for me I'd greatly appreciate it.

I'll confirm that all given clues are correct (and are completely given, not partially given).

If you need a little further help, here's a hint that might help (I'm writing it in white text, so highlight it to read it):

Hint: Your logic is completely correct under the assumption that the solution contains 4 distinct digits. So your logic to this point has proven that this is impossible.

All clues are correctly given. You're overlooking something.

Edit: beaten to the punch!
